July 9-13, 2015: The Hamptons, known as a summer haven for some of the most influential people in America and abroad, is also an art collecting destination due in part to Art Southampton, an annual art fair in Bridgehampton, NY. Although the art fair was in its fourth edition, the Hazelton Galleries participated for the first time in 2015 with spectacular results.
During the opening night of the fair, highly coveted pieces by Vadim Dolgov and Anna Razumovskaya were placed with collectors. Throughout the rest of the fair, many other works were snapped up by collectors. Paintings by contemporary artists Jane Waterous, Samir Sammoun, Daniel Mazzone, and Nurieh Mozaffari were displayed and purchased alongside lithographs by Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
One of the most eye-catching pieces though was Andy Warhol’s Karen Kain. This 40 by 32 inch screen-print of one of ballet’s most adored luminaries captured the attention of visitors and media alike, with Hamptons Magazine selecting the image as the cover page for their Culture feature called Vanity Fairs in print and called Behind the Scenes at Art Southampton and Market Art + Design online. This article covered the art fairs occurring in the Hamptons during the summer and this screen-print by Andy Warhol from the Hazelton Galleries was selected for conveying the quintessence of these prestigious art fairs.
After the success of the fair in 2015, we look forward to 2016 and we hope you will join us. The fair will be taking place from July 7-11, 2016 at Nova’s Ark Project in Bridgehampton, NY.
